Who We Are
Thompson's Hearth & Hand was born from a simple belief: the things that fill your home should mean something. Mara Thompson opened the shop in Bozeman, Montana, after years of collecting handmade goods from local artists at farmers markets and craft fairs β and realizing there was no single place in town where you could find all of it under one roof, curated with real care.
Every item in the shop is selected personally by Mara. She visits the potters, the woodworkers, the candle makers, and the textile weavers β she knows their names, their processes, and the stories behind each piece. When you pick something up at Hearth & Hand, you're not just buying an object. You're taking home a piece of someone's craft and a slice of Montana's creative spirit.
Our values are simple: support local makers, celebrate honest craftsmanship, and create a shop that feels like a warm hug the moment you walk through the door. We keep the space uncluttered, the staff friendly, and the selection thoughtful β because quality will always beat quantity for us.
Whether you're a Bozeman local stopping in on your lunch break or a visitor looking for the perfect Montana keepsake, we're glad you're here. Pull up a stool, take your time, and let something find you. That's how the best purchases always happen.
Made with Montana hands.

What People Say
I stumbled into this shop on a Saturday afternoon while visiting Bozeman for a hiking trip and ended up spending nearly an hour inside. I bought a wheel-thrown mug and a candle set, and both have been on my kitchen shelf since. The mug in particular is the one I reach for every morning β it just feels right in my hands. Mara was so warm and told me exactly who made each piece. This is the kind of shopping experience you just can't find online.

I've been buying my holiday gifts here for three years running now. Last December I picked up the carved wooden spoon set and the wool throw for my mom β she called me the moment she opened them and said they were the best gifts I'd ever given her. Everything is curated so thoughtfully, and the prices are fair for the quality. It's the kind of shop that makes Bozeman feel like Bozeman. I send every out-of-town friend here without hesitation.

The macramΓ© wall hanging I bought here completely transformed my living room β I get compliments on it every single time someone visits. What I love most is that I know the story behind it: Mara introduced me to the maker, a woman who learned the craft from her grandmother. That connection makes it feel priceless. Thompson's Hearth & Hand isn't just a shop, it's a community gathering point for people who care about craft and authenticity.
